Stanley Youth Centre, in County Durham, could receive cheap double glazing, as plans have been drawn to make the building more eco-friendly.

If plans go ahead, the building will not only benefit from cheap double glazing, but a wind turbine, solar panels and LED lights, which will cut its carbon footprint, the Evening Chronicle reported.

Stanley Youth Centre's Environmental Action Team - a group of teenagers generating ideas of how to help the environment and save money - have worked hard to find ways of saving energy at the youth centre, including using low-energy light bulbs.

Youth worker Bob Bland told the newspaper: "This project has empowered the young people to do something at the centre and allowed them all to make a contribution."

Earlier this week, the Halesowen News reported that a church hall in Blackheath, West Midlands, is to have cheap double glazing fitted thanks to a £15,000 cash injection from The Big Lottery Fund and Dudley Council's Halesowen Area Committee.
