Residents of Warrington could receive double glazing windows if they agree to allow Golden Gates Housing to take over the council's housing stock.Residents of council houses in Warrington could soon receive double glazing windows if Golden Gates Housing is allowed to take control of the properties from the borough council. The housing stock has been accepted on to the government's Housing Transfer Programme and now it is down to residents to agree to and finalise the move, the Warrington Guardian reports. If approved by locals, Golden Gates Housing would be in charge of maintaining the buildings and the council believe the company would improve their quality by installing double glazing and showers. Speaking to the newspaper, Bob Barr, executive member for planning, regeneration and housing at the council, said: "If tenants do vote in favour of transfer it would unlock £105 million to be invested in homes and the housing service in the town over the next five years." Peter Thompson, head of environment and regeneration at Gateshead Council, recently announced that all council houses in Gateshead are to receive double glazing windows to conserve energy and cut utility bills.Posted by Helen Sykes.
