A village hall is to save money through the new double glazing that has been installed.New double glazing is to be fitted at Pattishall Parish Hall in Northamptonshire as part of a £300,000 refit, which also includes a new kitchen.A village hall in Northamptonshire is to have double glazing windows fitted as part of a major refit.

Consultation of local residents by the Pattishall Parish Council revealed that top of their list of priorities was the refurbishment of the Pattishall Parish Hall, the Northampton chronicle reported.

Earlier this month South Northamptonshire Council gave the Patishall Parish Hall Association a grant of £4,500 for the refit of the hall's kitchen, according to the newspaper.

The renovation work will cost around £300,000 in total and will include double glazing, new flooring, new toilets and an extension.

Speaking to the newspaper, Iris Ilingworth, chairman of the Pattishall Parish Hall Association, said: "It is a parish hall that has been standing for 30 years and there are a lot of things that need doing, so we have decided to have them done in one go."

New double glazing will not only improve the dilapidated appearance of the hall but will also improve energy efficiency, saving around £135 a year in fuel bills, according to the Energy Saving Trust.
