A village hall has installed double glazing thanks to a grantA village hall has installed double glazing to reduce heating bills, thanks to a grant from East Staffordshire Borough Council.East Staffordshire Borough Council has paid for a village hall to install double glazing so that it can save money on heating bills and "alleviate condensation".

The borough council awarded a grant of £2,500 and further funds were generated through the sale of Yoxall village calendars, the Burton Mail reported.

Speaking to the newspaper, Beryl Behague, the parish council's vice chairman, said: "From the sale of calendars, we also managed to install a stained glass window with the Staffordshire Knot."

Ms Behague said that Yoxall Parish Hall is an "asset" and the whole project has brought the hall into the 21st century.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, there are many ways in which people can reduce energy bills, while also lowering energy wastage and carbon dioxide emissions.

Installing double glazing is one of the ways the trust suggests, as are simple steps such as turning electrical appliances off standby.
