Two empty in homes in Norwich have undergone renovations, including the insulation of cheap double glazing, and are now suitable to live in again. Two derelict homes in Norwich have been fitted with cheap double glazing and brought back into use. Norwich City Council threatened the owner of the houses, on Cyprus Street, in Lakenham, that they would seize the properties using an Empty Dwelling Management Order (EDMO), advertiser24.co.uk reports. This spurred the owner into using a grant from the council to renovate the homes so they were in a condition in which he could rent them out. Mark Siddall, sub-regional empty homes project officer at Norwich City Council, explained to the website that a lot of work has been done to the properties to make them more energy-efficient: "Where the floors were taken up, under floor insulation was fitted in addition to solid wall insulation, double glazing and loft insulation, and finished off with A-rated boilers." Trellick Tower in central London has also benefitted from the installation of cheap double glazing recently, Building Design reported. The 31-storey, grade II listed building is being renovated by Architecture firm John McAslan and Partners.Posted by James Hall
