A growing number of tenants are seeking rental properties that are energy efficient, such as those with cheap double glazing, is has been suggested.Tenants are increasingly seeking properties with energy efficient features, such as cheap double glazing, the Residential Landlords Association (RLA) has suggested.Environmental concerns are a top priority for many people in today's society and a number of Britons are keen to reduce their carbon emissions, starting in their own homes, the association claims. One government proposal to help people monitor and decrease their energy use is to install smart meters in as many as 47 million homes and business properties. However, the RLA claims that 59 per cent of participants in a survey said they expected energy bill savings of at least ten per cent if they were to support the installation of these new meters. Some 75 per cent said that they were aware of ways in which they could reduce their energy usage, which could include the installing of uPVC windows, or choosing a rental property that has this form of cheap double glazing. The Energy Saving Trust suggests that homeowners should contact uPVC window suppliers, explaining that cheap double glazing can reduce energy bills by up to £135 a year.Posted by Glenn Derbyshire
