Tenants 'looking for efficient homes'

The poll was commissioned by the RLANew research has revealed that tenants consider the energy efficiency of properties they consider renting.Energy efficiency has become one of the key issues that tenants consider when looking for rental property, new research has revealed.

The poll by Harris Interactive published on the Residential Landlords Association (RLA) website revealed that while location is the number one factor considered by people, five of the other top issues are based on a home's green credentials.

Over 80 per cent consider if a property features UPVC windows and double glazing, while almost 70 per cent check for insulation.

Fortunately, the study also revealed that 92 per cent of landlords have installed energy efficient measures at their homes.

Dave Princep of the RLA Local Government Liaison Group, said the organisation would continue to work to "represent the views of increasingly energy-conscious landlords".

Established in 1993, the RLA was the first of its kind for landlords in the UK.ADNFCR-2394-ID-19169142-ADNFCR
