Brits are set to benefit from new funding to support green home improvements.A new scheme is set to help British homeowners reduce their water usage, enabling them to fit efficiency devices in the kitchen and bathrooms. The Tap into Savings project will be rolled out across almost 1,000 homes in Redhill and Merstham and will be the biggest campaign of its kind in the UK, reports Edie.co.uk.Free energy monitors and water efficiency devices could be installed, perhaps alongside other refits, after homeowners have requested bathroom quotes for home improvements.Speaking to the website, constituency MP Peter Ainsworth said: "As the population of the South East continues to grow, there is increasing pressure to lead our lives more efficiently when using these life-essential resources."The scheme will be publicly-funded and comes after the Department of Communities and Local Government indicated that more needs to be done by ministers to encourage green building improvements.A spokesperson for the department insisted that the government "can do more" to improve the planning system to enable homeowners to pursue eco-friendly bathroom quotes and other home improvements.Written by Sarah Gower
