New building regulations are coming into force from October 1st.Property owners wanting to install cheap double-glazed windows have until October 1st to take advantage of current prices before new legislation comes into force. The cost of these energy-efficient windows is set to rise by around 15 per cent from next month, and homeowners now have less than four weeks to place their order before prices go up.It related to part L of the Building Regulations, which will require all new double glazing to meet higher heat installation standards from the end of September.Mark Austin, from Hazlemere Window Company, said: "Many of our customers are keen to do their bit for the environment but with the economy in its current state it's difficult to justify extra spending."He added that the prospect of tax-paying homeowners shelling out more money to satisfy the new building regulations to help the government meet its carbon emission reduction targets is "not exactly popular".Recently, it was advised that York Crown Court should have double-glazed windows installed in order to cut out noise and improve energy efficiency.Posted by Liam Cass
