Sudbury Hall success highlights benefits of energy efficiency

Double glazing has been added to parts of Sudbury HallEfforts to improve the energy efficiency of a National Trust mansion have highlighted how property owners could benefit from similar moves.A scheme to improve the energy efficiency of a National Trust property in Derbyshire has highlighted how property owners could benefit from going green.

Sudbury Hall has cut its carbon emissions by over 80 per cent through the introduction of renewable technology alongside other energy saving measures fitted by energy supplier npower.

As well as featuring a biomass boiler, the site also features double glazing, draught exclusion technology and water-saving devices in flush systems.

Kevin Peake, marketing director of npower, said the property was proof of the savings that are possible.

He added: "By reducing the amount of energy used all customers can save themselves money and do their bit for the environment."

The Guardian newspaper and filmmaker Franny Armstrong recently launched the new 10:10 campaign, which is designed to encourage people across the UK to cut their carbon footprints.
