'Staycation' trend sees more people looking for kitchen quotes More people are investing money in their kitchens instead of spending cash on expensive holidays, an architect says.The current trend of 'staycations' has seen an increase in the numbers of people seeking kitchen quotes, according to an expert.

Speaking to News Times, architect Leigh Overland said that more people are shunning expensive holidays in favour of investing in their home.

"Due to the economy, people are not travelling," Mr Overland explained. "Clients are spending their money on [home] additions - large and small - as opposed to spending thousands on a temporary experience."

Mr Overland explained that he often tries to reflect some traditional holiday activities in the home, such as special wine storages and beautiful kitchens for hand-picked produce.

Earlier this month, Rosemary Sadez Friedman, in the Seattle Times, suggested that those thinking of getting kitchen quotes should opt for a traditional style with wood, crown moulding and shades of blue, green and gold.

The Sun Herald also say that a contemporary kitchen look can be achieved with fresh finishes to units, including smooth, high-gloss and matte lacquered.
