Solar panels: Energy saving for the home scheme 'going well'Steady growth has been seen in solar power installations recently.The steady growth in the number of people installing solar panels to their home is highlighting an interest in energy saving for the home.

Stuart Pocock, technical director at the Renewable Energy Association, was commenting on new figures from Ofgem, which showed that 2,257 homes were fitted with solar panels last month, up from 1,700 in July.

"It's a good start, but by no means a boom. Obviously, we don't want to see an uncontrolled growth in the market. What we want to see happen is strong growth that can be supported by the emerging supply chain. We don't want to see a boom-bust scenario as has happened in other markets," he stated.

Mr Pocock added that the feed-in scheme has got off to a good start, which will allow for good but not unsustainable growth in the sector.

Since the Feed-in Tariff began in April, nearly 7,000 homes have had solar panels installed.
