Scottish boating club installs double glazing

A Scottish boating club's new double glazing will reduce its energy billsThe Ness Boating Club in Shetland, Scotland, has installed insulation and double glazing to improve the building and cut energy use.A boating club in Shetland, Scotland, has recently been renovated and now boasts brand new double glazing.

The Ness Boating Club officially opened 1983 and had become in great need of alterations, the Shetland Times reported.

Along with the installation of double glazing, the toilets were upgraded and new fire doors, ceiling lighting and a heating system were added, according to the newspaper.

The new windows will help to save energy in the building and reduce heating bills, as will the insulation and air management system that have been added.

Reducing energy usage will help to cut CO2 emissions. According to the government's Act on CO2 website, man-made CO2 is the likely cause of global warming and some extreme changes in weather that have occurred in the past 50 years.

A celebration marking the completion of the renovations at the club was held at the weekend including music from a folk rock band that comprises a guitar, fiddle, mandolin and vocals.
