Safety services unite over home security

A home security advice service has been established in WycombeA new initiative has been created to improve the level of home security and safety support provided to vulnerable people in Wycombe.Vulnerable people living in Wycombe are to be given home security and safety advice as part of a new initiative, it has been announced.

The Home Safety Check scheme has been designed to encourage emergency services, councils, the NHS and other bodies to work together to ensure people get the correct level of support on a range issues, reports ThisislocalLondon.co.uk.

For example, the scheme would give firefighters who are fitting a smoke alarm the chance to inform their partner bodies if an occupant wants information on home security.

Terry Ridgley, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's community safety manager, said it will "make life much easier" for many people.

Details of the scheme have come after research by insurer RIAS found that over-50s are more concerned about burglary than ever before.
