Roller blinds on cheap double glazing can lower air-con costsInstalling roller blinds in front of cheap double glazing can reduce the heat entering a building, thereby reducing the requirement for air-conditioning.Putting up metallic roller blinds in front of cheap double glazing can slash the energy consumption of an air-conditioning system in a typical building by at least 50 per cent, according to an expert.

TechnoShade LLC manager Mohammed Imtiaz told Constructionweekonline.com that these blinds create a high reflectance of solar radiation so less heat enters a building, reducing the requirement for air-conditioning.

Another company which has developed technology like this is French manufacturer Temperance. Export manager Alain Huck said that the company's roller blinds are versatile.

"They can fit all shapes and sizes, including rectangular, triangular, curved or trapezoidal and straight or inclined windows," he explained to the news provider.

The Residential Landlords Association recently suggested that tenants are increasingly looking for properties with energy-efficient features like cheap double glazing.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, installing cheap double glazing can reduce energy bills by up to £135 a year.
