Preston targeted in home security campaign

Homeowners in Preston are being targeted in a police campaignHouseholds in Preston are being warned to be aware of home security issues through a new leaflet campaign. The importance of home security and the use of products related to it are being highlighted as part of a major campaign by Lancashire police.

Officers in Preston are handing out leaflets shaped as a footprint to households in the town to ensure they are fully aware of keeping UPVC windows and doors locked when out during the summer months.

The items are just on part of Operation Julius, which is being run by the local constabulary throughout July.

Chief inspector Ian Mills said: "People shouldn't be complacent about crime prevention as they have a crucial part to play in keeping crime low and making it difficult for thieves to operate.

"In the summer months in particular, people have a tendency to leave windows and doors open, leaving them vulnerable to burglars."

Police in West Yorkshire recently used leaflets shaped as hairy arms to raise awareness of home security.
