Plans for indoor nature reserve, with double glazing, revealed

The Eden ProjectPlans for a large-scale indoor nature reserve, which will have double glazed windows, have been revealed. Plans for a new 33,090 sq m eco-park, with double glazed windows, have been unveiled.

The Ecorium Project will be a nature reserve at the National Ecological Institute of South Korea site and will comprise of a series of inter-linking greenhouse domes including a wild plant area and a wetlands reserve.

Metal panels, low iron, double glazing, wood and Plexiglas are to be used for the exterior of each of the domes.

Modern technology will be used to adjust the internal conditions of the domes depending on the climatic conditions outside, so as to minimise energy use.

"This institution will foster and nurture the general public's awareness, educate and [promote] the importance of the environment through exhibitions and education programmes," said a spokesperson for the National Ecological Institute.

The project has been hailed as the 'Eden Project of the south'. Based in Cornwall, the Eden Project is a visitor attraction containing plant species collected from around the world.
