Planners give green light to new eco homes

Couple studying plans by building sitePlanning Officers at the Peak District National Park Authority have given approval for eight new environmentally-friendly homes to be built.

The affordable homes, which will be constructed in the village of Youlgrave, Derbyshire, will be taken on by local families. Designers intend to make the properties as sustainable as possible.

The six houses and two bungalows will come with a variety of environmentally-friendly features including double glazing and solar panels. And according to a statement from the national park, the UPVC double glazed windows will face south in order to get as much natural solar heat as possible.

Councillor Trevor Bagshaw, vice chair of the Peak District National Park Authority''s planning committee, said: "Providing affordable homes is a top priority for us because national park residents tell us it is one of the issues that most concerns them.

"This scheme meets an identified need for affordable homes in Youlgrave. They will be very energy efficient homes and have been designed to fit in with existing houses in the area and the local environment."
