New research has revealed that over 50 per cent of Brits do not intend to move house in the near future. The economic downturn has led many Brits to reconsider plans to move home in the near future, new research has revealed. Legal & General's latest Home Sweet Home survey found that 54 per cent of people are not currently looking to buy a new property in the next few years due to the impact of the recession. However, it was also found that 61 per cent of people are intending to make home impovements and, although many are also likely to consider new double glazing or conservatories, the most popular projects set to be carried out in the future include garden renovations and decorating. Ruth Wilkins, head of communications for Legal & General's general insurance business, said it appeared the "reluctance to spend" was also affecting "the improvements we are considering in our current homes". Recent research by HSBC claimed the renovation projects most likely to add value to properties are loft conversions, extensions and conservatories.
