Hannah Booth, writing for the Guardian, said that the work can be easily carried out, and it will also provide users with a refreshing experience during the warm summer months.

Ms Booth went on to say that as living space decreases, the garden is becoming more and more a part of people's homes, with some opting for outdoor grills.

Furthermore, exotic travel is also influencing people's home improvement choices in this country, with property owners opting for more daring projects.

"Drainage is important, because you can't contaminate a standard gully with soapy water," added Matt Bedale, a plumbing and heating engineer at Pimlico Plumbers.

Recently, Jeff Howell, the Daily Telegraph's DIY expert, said that people suffering from condensation in their bathrooms need to install ventilation in order to minimise the issue.
