Nottingham and London 'are burglary hotspots'

New research has revealed that London and Nottingham are burglary hotspotsNew research has suggested that property owners in Nottingham should consider investing in home security products.A new poll has highlighted that properties in Nottingham and London are most likely to be at risk of burglary.

The study by Moneysupermarket.com found five postcodes in London were among the top 20 in the UK most likely to make claims for theft and burglary, which highlights that homeowners should consider installing security products.

It also found that four postcodes in Nottingham featured in the rankings.

Julie Owens, head of home insurance at Moneysupermarket.com, said Brits should be "extra vigilant" when it comes to securing their properties.

She added: "You never know when an opportunistic thief may strike, and I would advise ensuring your home contents insurance is fully up to date, and is at a high enough level to cover all belongings sufficiently."

Recent research by Halifax revealed that 29 per cent of burglaries last year were unforced through open or unlocked UPVC windows and doors.
