Norwich eco-home unveiled

A new efficient property in Norwich has been unveiledA 1930s property in Norwich which has been renovated with a range of energy saving measures is to be opened up to the public.People looking for inspiration when it comes to energy saving in the home will soon be able to have a glance at a renovated property in Norwich, it has been announced.

The council-built house in Kirby Bedon, which was originally built in the 1930s, has been brought up-to-date with a range of eco-friendly measures including solar panels, recycled insulation and a wood-burning stove.

According to Norwich Evening News, it is now being opened up to the public next month as part of a Campaign to Protect Rural England initiative.

Architect Donal MacGarry, who worked on the renovation work, told the newspaper: "I've always been interested in all aspects of building conservation and, although sometimes it seems pointless doing small things, we have cut our energy consumption."

Grant Shapps, the shadow housing minister, recently told the Daily Telegraph that the government must improve the schemes it has in place to improve the efficiency of homes across the UK.
