Norwich City Council orders double glazing to be fitted to cold flats

Norwich City Council orders double glazing to be fitted to cold flats Councillors in Norwich have demanded that cheap double glazing be installed in a number of city centre flats.

Dozens of flats in Norwich are to be fitted with double glazing in order to keep residents warm next winter, it has been reported.

Just recently, the city council issued a number of improvement notices on properties within the Relay arch development, with the company warned that many residents were at risk of being excessively cold during the winter months.

Now, following on from the installation of new storage heaters, the Norwich Evening News has reported that Relay Arch has until the start of next winter to fit both double glazing and improved insulation in the flats, while work will also be carried out to repair the potholed car park at the site.

Speaking to the newspaper, a spokeswoman for the city council said: "There are a number of issues at the site that have been well documented.

"The condition of the car park and levels of cold in the flats are such that the council has deemed it necessary to take enforcement action."

This comes soon after the Warrington Guardian reported that Warrington Borough Council has called on social housing residents to have their say over a mooted private landlord takeover, with the development potentially leading to the installation of new double glazing and new showers.
