Modern kitchen quotes 'do not have to be monochrome and glass' People seeking kitchen quotes have been told that contemporary interior design does not need to stick to white and glass elements.Kitchen quotes do not need to use monochrome colour schemes and glass in order to be modern, commentators have said.

The Scotsman reported that new style book, Living Modern: The Sourcebook of Contemporary Interiors, by photographer Richard Powers and writer Phyllis Richardson, suggests plenty of ways to make a house look current, while also being unique.

For example, the book includes a kitchen in Los Angeles which is constructed entirely out of aluminium sheets and includes appliances, such as a kettle, in the same material.

Author Ms Richardson commented: "The word 'modern' is no longer weighted with expectations that predict ... a regime of stark white and chrome ... Today's interior might also have robust patterns on the walls, for example, decorative wallpaper, something that many devotees to modernism would not countenance."
