A new study by a leading energy company has found that people do not realise how much they are wasting in regards to electricity and gas bills.A number of organisations, people and households may not realise how much money their lack of double glazing windows or drafty doors may be costing them.Such is the opinion of npower, which underlined how small businesses in particular are not saving money on their energy bills as they do not see the immediate benefits of simple actions around the office or home.Allan Robinson, head of products for npower energy services, questioned the cynic's stance to energy efficiency and noted how many individuals may prefer to pay a little more electricity at the expense of real change in their operating environment, such as installing double glazing windows. He said that while small measures such as switching off equipment can make a big difference, a number of people see "no obvious impact" in flicking a light switch. "You can't see your energy use drop instantly and bills won't always register a change immediately so there's often little incentive to keep on saving energy, particularly when you're busy," Mr Robinson continued, asserting that this attitude must change in homes around the country. Before Christmas, the Confederation of British Industry called upon the government to boost efforts to encouraging people to install insulation including double glazing in homes and workplaces, thus increasing energy efficiency.Posted by Tim Lloyd.
