Lotto winner 'to use cash to install cheap double glazing'A man who won the lottery has said he will spend some of the money on fitting cheap double glazing in his home to insulate it against the cold.Exercising in ladies fitness wear can reactivate the production of new cells in the brain, researchers have suggested.

Scientists from the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology in Freiburg claim that different types of neuronal stem cells exist that are capable of creating new neurons.

They said it is not yet clear as to which precise factors influence the reactivation of dormant stem cells, but they know that cells can, however, be stimulated to divide again.

The scientists observed more new neurons in physically active mice than in their sedentary counterparts.

"Consequently, running promotes the formation of new neurons," said Verdon Taylor from the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology.

Last week, a study of 11,430 people, commissioned by the BBC, revealed that brain-training games do not actually increase cognitive function as much as was first thought.

A separate study from Illinois University, however, suggested that improving cardio-respiratory fitness by just five per cent through donning gym clothing and running can improve performance in mental tests by up to 15 per cent.
