Lib Dems: We will help people to install cheap double glazing Under a Liberal Democrat government, homeowners would receive grants towards installing cheap double glazing, the party has claimed.The Liberal Democrat Party has announced in its manifesto that, if elected, it will provide homeowners with grants to help towards the cost of replacing old windows with cheap double glazing.

It also claims that a one-year-only Eco Cash Back scheme would be created, which would give people £400 if they make eco-friendly improvements to their homes.

Grants would not just be available for cheap double glazing, but for upgrading boilers, fitting solar panels or installing a micro-wind turbine.

The party claims that, as well as benefitting the environment, this would create jobs.

All three of the main political parties have pledged to reduce the UK's carbon emissions.

In the Labour Party's manifesto, plans to help homeowners with their energy bills through a Social Tariff and Winter Fuel Payments are detailed.

The Conservatives, however, have pledged to "reform the Climate Change Levy to provide a floor price for carbon, delivering the right climate for investment in low carbon energy production".
