Less is more with home improvement projects

Less is more with home improvement projectsThe recession is leading people to opt for the less-is-more approach. When it comes to home improvement projects, less is more, according to an expert.

Jose Cabrera, a spokesperson for C&L Studio, told the Orlando Sentinel that thanks to the weakened economy, there is now a trend towards smaller but better-quality homes.

He commented that with the economy still remaining largely uncertain, many homeowners are reluctant to spend lavishly on new furnishings when carrying out a home improvement project.

"Our clients want fewer things, but really good things. It's a less-is-more approach. Old things are mixed with new and many styles are being brought together in an eclectic way," he added.

Mr Cabrera advised that current trends in decor do not evoke any particular period, but it is now more a matter of bringing the past into the present and making it fresh with new colours, accessories and art work.

Paris-Link-Home.com recently said that the bedroom is both a private and personal area, with decor needing to reflect this.
