Kitchen quotes: Backsplashes offer design opportunities Backsplashes are as important as counter tops when creating kitchen quotes, an expert has said.People looking for new kitchen quotes should choose a backsplash which adds to the overall design of the room, an expert has said.

Writing for App.com, David Decker said that many homeowners overlook backsplashes in favour of choosing a statement countertop, when both are equally important.

Mr Decker said that backsplashes can create a focal point in the kitchen, and can be used to highlight certain elements of the chosen interior design theme.

He explained: "A full counter-to-cabinet backsplash can create unity by carrying out a single-colour scheme between the cabinets, countertop and backsplash. Or you can use a contrasting shade to separate and compartmentalise your kitchen's shapes and colours."

Last week, Janet Eavenson of Leonard Provence Interiors advised people looking for new kitchen quotes that grey is a "hot" trend, and is an ideal base colour for a room.
