People are still considering major renovation work despite the downturn, it has been claimed An expert has claimed that homeowners are increasingly looking at renovating parts of their properties including bathrooms and kitchens.Property owners are continuing to consider major home improvement work despite the recession, it has been claimed.

Claire Barrett, editor at Grand Designs Magazine, has claimed that a number of people are not shying away from undertaking relatively expensive renovations such as the addition of an extension or changes to a bathroom.

She explained that many people have been inspired to make such changes by the economic climate and a desire to add value to homes.

"There are still great opportunities for people to make a safe investment [by] investing in their home," she added.

Recent figures from AA Personal Loans revealed that 24 per cent of all renovated properties were expected to add an extra room before the end of the recession.
