Insurer urges homeowners to keep eye on security

Swinton has called on homeowners to consider security issuesHomeowners must not forget about the importance of security in the summer months, according to a leading insurance firm.An insurance firm has called on property owners not to forget about the basics of home security this summer.

Swinton has stated that while temperatures are set to rise in the coming weeks, people should not be "complacent" and leave their UPVC windows and doors open when leaving home.

The company also called on adults to ensure valuables are not on show near windows, while locks should be fitted to all potential entrances for burglars – particularly when homeowners are going on holiday.

Steve Chelton, insurer development manager at Swinton, said: "Being a victim of burglary can be an extremely distressing experience at any time of the year and ensuring you have good security measures can save a lot of heartache."

Police across the UK have recently been raising awareness of home security across the UK, in locations including West Mercia and Lancashire.ADNFCR-2394-ID-19272778-ADNFCR
