Installing own cheap double glazing 'can result in accidents'People who try to install their own cheap double glazing or do other difficult home improvements projects themselves can end up in a spot of bother, it has been suggested.Over-ambitions people who try to do big home improvement projects themselves, such as installing cheap double glazing, can end up doing more harm than good, it has been suggested.

According to M&S Money, almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of adults in the UK would rather do jobs themselves than pay for the services of skilled tradesmen.

However, the company warns that over 200,000 people visit hospital each year with injuries sustained during DIY jobs.

Its research also showed that a fifth of DIYers had spilled paint on carpets and flooring while decorating.

"If people are attempting more complex DIY projects at home that should really be carried out by professionals, they are risking much more serious consequences than having to replace ruined carpeting," warned Andrew Ferguson, M&S head of general insurance.

Last month, uPVC window supplier Conservatory Outlet suggested that those redecorating their homes should consider giving the exterior of their properties a fresh new look too by installing cheap double glazing.
