Install double glazing and 'show political support' for climate change policies, Brits urged

Installing double glazing helps to reduce CO2 emissions.Politicians need more motivation from the public to introduce and implement climate change policies, according to the Campaign against Climate Change.Homeowners may be cutting carbon emissions by installing double glazing but they need to protest to show politicians that there is demand for the policies needed to avoid climate chaos, the Campaign against Climate Change has said.

Abi Edgar, spokesperson for the action on climate change campaigning group, said: "If we show that there's political support from the people for these sorts of measures, it will make the difficult decisions that politicians have to make that much easier."

Ms Edgar was speaking at an International Day of Climate Action demonstration at the London Eye on Saturday (October 24th).

During the day of action organised by international climate crisis campaign 350.org, people formed giant threes, fives, or zeroes in cities worldwide to draw attention to the number of parts per million believed by most climate scientists to be the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere: 350.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, if everyone in the UK had double glazing around £700 million would be saved, alongside the equivalent of around 740,000 households' CO2 emissions.
