A spokesperson for the Energy Saving Trust has stated that it should be impossible to sell inefficient properties. It should be impossible to sell or rent a home that is not energy efficient, it has been claimed.According to a spokesperson for the Energy Saving Trust, people looking to sell or rent out a property should make energy efficient home improvements before doing so.She said that since last October all homes that are on sale or up for renting must produce an Energy Performance Certificate which rates the homes energy efficiency from A- G ratings. "The Energy Saving Trust is advising the government that it should not be possible to sell or rent a home that is F or G rated from 2015," the representative added. She continued to say that simple measures such as fitting cavity wall and loft insulation can boost homes' rating by a grade."The danger of climate change is so important that for people who choose not to act between now and 2016 regulation has to be considered to drive action on the most energy inefficient homes," the spokesperson concluded.A recent study by insulation manufacturer Rockwool found that 78 per cent of homeowners in the UK are making environmental improvements to their property.
