Incorporate used materials in kitchen quotes, homeowners told Homeowners are being encouraged to include reclaimed materials in their kitchen quotes, to improve their style and sustainability credentials.Those looking to add some unique aspects to their kitchen quotes should consider using recycled materials in its design.

The Canadian Press reported that there is growing interest in adding used and reclaimed lumber, kitchen cabinets, lighting fixtures and sinks into interior styling, as a way of saving money and approaching DIY from an environmentally sound perspective.

Justin Green, programme director for Build It Green NYC, said: "The interest [in recycled supplies] keeps growing. The number one driver is you can save a lot of money. The number two is people are interested in being green."

According to Shane Endicott, executive director of the Rebuilding Centre in Portland, reused building materials can cost between 50 and 90 per cent less than new goods.

Tim Doherty, of the National Self Build & Renovation Centre, said earlier this week that people looking for kitchen quotes could reduce their costs by carrying out some of the labour themselves.
