Houses 'can be re-styled in 24 hours'

De-clutter bathrooms to make them feel more spaciousPeople waiting for their new bathroom suite or double glazing windows to be fitted can re-style the rest of their home in just 24 hours, according to an interior designer. Those waiting for their new UPVc windows to be fitted can re-style the rest of their homes in just 24 hours, according to interior guru Ceri Rocca.

The interior designer said that those wanting to make alterations so that it feels like they have a brand new kitchen can achieve this through giving kitchen units a lick of paint or varnish and replacing cupboard handles with contemporary brushed steel ones.

"A little time can go a long way when it comes to home improvements, and doing it yourself is a very rewarding process," said Ms Rocca.

"The trick is to plan ahead, set a day aside and enjoy it. Most importantly, after a hard days graft, you'll still have time left to sit back, relax and enjoy the view!" she added.

For the bathroom, Ms Rocca recommends de-cluttering by hiding away toiletries. She said adding a mirror is another way of making the space feel bigger and brighter.

Last month a survey, conducted by Aspect Maintenance, found that 70 per cent of London homeowners have plans to improve their property in 2010.
