George Osbourne, Conservative shadow chancellor, has outlined plans to offer households £6,500 loans to boost the energy efficient of their property.The Conservative party has outlined plans to offer loans to UK households to make energy efficient home improvements.George Osbourne, shadow chancellor, told a UK Green Building Council event that every household in the UK could access a £6,500 loan to boost the property's energy efficiency.Under the scheme, home improvement firms could see an increase in the amount of consumers enquiring about quotes for eco-measures such as energy efficient windows and doors to be installed in their homes.The loan would be repaid over 25 years and would be attached to the house and not the residents living in it, added Mr Osbourne.He stated: "This is something we would hope to bring to every house in the UK."Dr Richard Dixon, director of WWF Scotland, recently told the Scotsman that homeowners who do not improve the energy efficiency of the property should face criminal action.He described wasting energy as "as antisocial as drink driving".
