People looking to move house should consider new properties that have double glazing, so that they can be prepared for any future cold snaps, Miller Homes has advised.House hunters should consider new properties with double glazing windows to ensure they are not left shivering if another cold spell strikes the UK in the future, according to Miller Homes.The house builder is encouraging people to choose new homes that are built to the latest environmental standards, with features such as double glazing and energy-efficient heating systems.Steve McElroy, sales director for Miller Homes Yorkshire, told Easier.com: "A home needs to withstand these extreme conditions and conserve heat whilst helping its occupants to keep energy usage down."The website advises homeowners to set their thermostat to around 21 degrees C and set the timer on their heating system so that it comes on before they get up in the morning and switches off when they go to bed.Those that cannot afford to, or are not looking to move house can ensure they are prepared for any cold spells by seeking a double glazing quote and having cheap UPVC windows installed.This, according to the Energy Saving Trust, can cut heat loss by half and heating bills by £135 a year.Posted by Mark Moore
