Homeowners 'seek kitchen quotes to personalise their kitchens' The motivation behind people seeking kitchen quotes has moved towards a trend of individualising the cooking space, Britannia Living has suggested.Homeowners are seeking kitchen quotes to personalise their kitchen and put their "own touch" on their cooking area, Britannia Living has suggested.

Robert Cassidy, brand manager at the firm, said that people are becoming increasingly interested in coloured cookers, with shades of red, cream and white proving fashionable.

"People are getting colour-savvy about the way they want things to look, but also about the functionality behind it as well," he said.

Mr Cassidy went on to suggest that the recession has caused many homeowners to consider their options more carefully before buying products from a kitchen company.

"They will … really research the product before making a purchase," he added, going on to say that three or four years ago people would make a decision much more quickly.

His comments follow the recent release of figures by the Confederation of British Industry showing that DIY sales fell sharply in March compared to those in February.
