People who have cheap double glazing but want to install more energy-saving features in their homes could benefit from a new pilot scheme launched this week.A pilot scheme has been launched in the UK, aimed at making it easier for people to insulate their homes, which may be of interest to those considering making their properties more energy efficient with cheap double glazing.Insulate Today was created by Accenture, Aviva, HSBC, Sainsbury's, Act On CO2, the Energy Saving Trust and EDF Energy. These companies have committed to help their employees be more environmentally friendly in their day-to-day lives by, among many other measures, providing exclusive insulation offers to employees. They will also offer installed insulation for free to a number of employees and give away energy monitors, which will help homeowners to keep an eye on their bills.Joan Ruddock, minister of state for energy and climate change, said: "The government's ambition is to see all lofts and cavity walls in the UK insulated by 2015. The 'Insulate Today' initiative will make a real contribution towards this target. She went on to say that employees of the companies will not only save money, but energy as well. According to the Energy Saving Trust, loft insulation can save around £150 a year on energy bills, it also recommends installing cheap double glazing, as this can save up to £135 per annum.Posted by Matt Watts
