An expert has called on the government to introduce home improvement incentives that could have a major environmental impact. The introduction of home improvement incentives could help efforts to cut carbon emissions in Scotland, an expert has claimed.Michael Levack, chief executive of Scottish Building Federation, has written in a letter to the Press and Journal that property-based help could be as effective as the car scrappage scheme. He went on to explain that the vehicle initiative was evidence that well-targeted schemes can work, while a property-based funding scheme would also boost the construction industry."Greening this country's 25 million homes with insulation, double glazing and other energy-saving measures," he added.Last week, Philip Sellwood, chief executive of the Energy Saving Trust, recently claimed that the introduction of eco-friendly measures in homes is become "as attractive to house hunters as a new kitchen or solid wood floors".Research by the body also found that over a third of Brits would be happy to pay more for a house with features including renewable technology.Written by Tim Lloyd
