Paula Cocozza, writing for the Guardian, said that "something very strange is happening in our bedrooms", adding that it is no longer the framework bed that is on trend.

"The divan is back. Beds are turning into sofas: low, squashy, soft bases for mattresses, often with enormous upholstered headboards that look like sofa backs. They dominated at the Milan furniture fair in April, and on the high street they are filtering through too," she said.

Sarah Slade, an editor at Elle Decoration, told the news source that bedrooms and living rooms are "blurring" and the divan bed is playing its role in this change.

According to Paris-Link-Home.com, the process of designing a bedroom should be done from scratch, allowing property owners to alter the theme from a blank canvass.
