Home improvement: Be 'very careful' of refurbishing health issuesHomeowners should ensure that they protect themselves against health issues when refurbishing, people seeking bathroom quotes have been told.Homeowners who are looking for new bathroom quotes should be "very careful" if they are planning to complete refurbishment work themselves.

Glen Irwin, sustainability director at Gifford, said that people need to be aware of problems such as poor ventilation, which can cause condensation problems.

Speaking at Sustainability Now, Mr Irwin explained: "You have got to think about what you are setting in place - try and pre-empt that you are going to have an air-quality humidity issue and then put other interventions in to deal with that."

The expert added that environmental efficiency is important for properties, but that home improvement enthusiasts should ensure that they are creating a nice environment to live in as well.

Research from Confused.com, which was released earlier this month, has revealed that only 13 million British homes have loft insulation, while around ten million properties have added cavity wall insulation.
