Halifax residents warned of double glazing quotes scamResidents in Pellon, Halifax, have been warned that door-to-door salesmen are using fraudulent methods to secure double glazing quotes.The importance of seeking double glazing quotes from reputable firms has been highlighted after door-to-door UPVc window salesmen used fraudulent techniques in Halifax.

The Evening Courier reports that householders in the Pellon area have been approached by people using false claims in order to secure orders.

According to the newspaper, Calderdale Council have received reports that residents have been told that their council tax bills will rise if they do not take out energy efficient double glazing quotes.

However, the council has insisted that this is not true and they do not have any agreements with the company.

People who do wish to improve the energy efficiency of their home should consider installing cheap UPVc windows. The Energy Savings Trust suggests that this could save up to £130 per year in heating bills.

An expert from the National Self Build & Renovation Centre has also said that homeowners can install their own loft insulation in order to save money.
