Half of Brits 'have never had efficiency advice'

People do not get efficiency advice from tradespeople, new research has revealedAlmost 50 per cent of Brits have not been given advice on energy efficiency from tradespeople working on renovations in their home, it has been revealed.Around half of all homeowners in the UK have not received energy efficiency advice from tradespeople on measures that could be installed in their properties.

The research by the Energy Saving Trust (EST) also found however that just one in six would trust advice given to them by a person working on installing double glazing and other efficient measures.

In addition, 55 per cent of tradespeople claimed they would offer more green advice if they themselves had more information.

According to Philip Sellwood, chief executive of the EST, such issues could be affecting efforts to improve the efficiency of existing housing.

He added: "Real cost savings - in terms of labour and minimising disruption - are on offer to householders who employ tradespeople to install energy-efficiency measures when they are in doing other work."

Recent research by locallife.co.uk found that Norwich is the UK city with the most green services per person.
