Green Party HQ gets double glazing

The Green Party has now fitted double glazing at its headquarters.Double glazing has been fitted at the Green Party's headquarters after it was found to waste 610.5kg of CO2 a year.The Green Party has fitted double glazing in its Brighton headquarters after it was found to be losing more heat and twice as much carbon dioxide as the average family.

Infra-red thermal images revealed that Green Party leader Caroline Lucas has the least energy efficient office of all the main political parties.
The images revealed that Miss Lucas's office wastes 610.5kg of CO2 a year - almost twice the national average of 344kg - and a huge 1,446.7KW per hour of energy, costing £172.15.

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg's Sheffield constituency office was the second-biggest offender, wasting 1,243.38kWh of energy and 524.71kg of CO2 every year, at a cost of £147.96.

A spokesman for the Green Party told the Telegraph that the energy efficiency of buildings is extremely important and insisted the offices were part of a larger building and have since been fitted with double glazing.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, Energy Saving Recommended double glazing can cut heat lost through windows by half, as well as saving around £135 a year on the average heating bill.
