Green home improvements 'ever popular'

Environmental improvements popularA study finds Brits are looking to make environmental improvements to their home.New research has found that Britons are turning to greener DIY and home improvements.

A study by insulation manufacturer Rockwool found that 78 per cent of homeowners in the UK are making environmental improvements to their property.

The research also found that 71 per cent of respondents are concerned about the environment.

Homeowners are making green improvements to their homes such as installing energy-saving light bulbs, putting more efficient heating systems in and investing in high grade home insulation, the study found.

Hans Schreuder, managing director of Rockwool, said the results suggest that "consumers still see the environmental credentials of a property as being of vital importance".

"The key difference is that consumers view properties in terms of their running costs and whether they reflect their lifestyles and ambitions, and in the face of higher energy prices and an increasing interest in the environment, the green performance of buildings is clearly key," he added.

Kevin McCloud, the presenter of Channel 4 series Grand Designs, recently told the Daily Telegraph that the green credentials of a home are becoming increasingly important.
