Installing double glazing is known to reduce emissions but Lambeth Council is giving its residents funding to set up projects to further decrease the community's carbon footprint.People in Greater London that have double glazing but want to do more to increase their eco-friendly credentials are being offered council funding.As part of the Big Difference environmental campaign, Lambeth Council is offering residents up to £500 of funding for each scheme aimed at reducing climate change that is created.Residents can gain funding for food-growing co-ops, community recycling projects and other such schemes.Steve Reed, leader of Lambeth Council, said: "Part of the deal is that those given funding will be expected to share their skills and experiences with other groups across the borough and pass on advice and information to their local community."As part of the Big Difference campaign, Lambeth Council is asking residents to switch off appliances instead of leaving them on standby in order to save energy - this is something that the Energy Saving Trust has also recommended.The trust has also advised homeowners to consider installing double glazing, as this can cut heat loss through windows by half.Posetd by Matt Watts
