Householders should secure a new energy deal before prices rise again, according to industry experts.
All of the ‘big six’ energy suppliers have increased their prices in recent months, and it’s believed that continuing unrest in the Middle East will help push tariffs even higher before long. Companies are already taking steps to protect their margins.
A report by the Daily Mail said leading suppliers including Scottish and Southern Energy, npower and EDF have all withdrawn some of their most attractive household deals in recent weeks.
Mark Todd, managing director at switching service energyhelpline.com, said: "If you’re looking to switch, you must act fast as prices are likely to start to rise by late summer."
According to Mr Todd, consumers who take a gamble on a three or four year fixed-rate deal could well find themselves better off.
And with the cost of heating a home skyrocketing, many homeowners are also looking on the internet for double glazing quotes in a bid to make their properties more energy efficient. Having UPVC double glazed windows fitted can ensure that heat remains in the home.
