Energy ratings 'improving UPVC windows'

Efficiency standards have boosted the development of better UPVC windows, it has been claimedThe launch of a new set of efficiency standards for UPVC windows has led to an increase in the development of more eco-friendly products, it has been suggested.New standards used to judge the efficiency of UPVC windows and doors have had a major impact on the market, according to a leading manufacturer.

Conservatory Outlet has claimed the introduction of the regulations by the British Fenestration Rating Council has in turn led to the development of more eco-friendly products.

The firm added that customers can also make more informed decisions about the quality of the windows or doors they have installed on their properties.

Matthew Glover, the managing director of Conservatory Outlet, said: "We have seen a ten fold increase in sales over the last 12 months, with most people opting for the most energy efficient A Rated UPVC windows."

In a recent interview with the Daily Telegraph, shadow housing minister Grant Shapps called on the government to change its plans to launch new proposals that may see tax and stamp duty on inefficient homes increased.
